Let us meet in the parking lot of the Mt Sunapee ski area at 9 AM, then drive to a nearby trailhead and hike up to our work area not over a mile away.
We’ll build rock steps, waterbars, drainage dips, hopefully finish and open a new trail section on a gentle/moderate grade that bypasses a steep section of old trail that goes straight up and down the hill.
We’ll take breaks and lunch, and quitting time is 4 PM or sooner if you need to leave. Steady rain cancels. Leader reserves right to cancel or change this day with notice to those who signed up by replying to this email. That also helps me bring enough tools.
Please feel free to bring your own tools. We have 4 10-lb bars, 3 5-lb pick mattocks, a few shovels, loppers, hazel hoes for digging sidehill. Also webbing and a rope puller for moving rock if needed.
We will be in the woods all day. Please bring 2 qts water plus food enough to keep you going, work gloves, long pants, leather boots. Anyone can learn to build these fixtures, and in the process make a valuable contribution to more sustainable trails
